Established by the 2020 General Assembly, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA) funds critical transportation projects that improve accessibility, economic development, mobility, and quality of life across Central Virginia.
Since its creation, information about CVTA has been housed on the PlanRVA site. The overarching objective of this project was to establish a new digital home for CVTA where the public, authority members, and other key stakeholders can access information about CVTA projects, meetings, and resources.
Informed by stakeholder surveys conducted by KLT Group, we began by identifying the unique needs of CVTA’s audience. Leveraging this research, we developed a digital strategy tailored to address the priorities of stakeholder groups while ensuring efficient management of frequent updates, including authority meetings, committee work, key resources, and membership documents.
CVTA now has a dedicated digital platform that empowers the public to:
- Access updates on CVTA-funded projects
- Stay informed with meeting information and public notices
- Explore and download important documents and reports
- ArcGIS ESRI map integration for project visualization
- Multilingual support to promote inclusivity
- Accessibility enhancements for an improved user experience
- Cookie consent controls to ensure privacy compliance
- A robust document library for organizing and sharing key resources
- Streamlined meetings management for easy access to agendas and minutes
Additionally, we developed a secure, login-gated member area for Authority and committee members. This area includes essential tools such as a project application system and a contact directory database with personal contact details to enhance collaboration.
This new platform empowers CVTA to better serve its stakeholders and fulfill its mission of improving mobility, economic development, and quality of life across Central Virginia.
