turbopuffer is a vector and full-text search database built on object storage, founded in 2023 by engineers who spent years scaling Shopify’s infrastructure. It powers search and retrieval for AI products including Cursor, Notion, Linear, and Superhuman. Anthropic added it to its subprocessor list in the Web Search category on May 6, 2026, covering every Anthropic product except Claude for Government. What it does inside Claude’s search stack is not public.
